ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Wireless Application Engineering (WAE) Group and Software Test Group (Test). WAE group responsibilities include installing and integrating TCS applications into customer's networks and executing acceptance testing with the customer and customer training.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Test group position responsibilities include creation of test cases, TCS application software testing and testing/modifications of upgrade procedures. Also may provide support for other TCS groups including Customer Technical Support Organization and Project Management staff. This position requires excellent engineering problem solving skills, a keen sense for troubleshooting and good communication skills. Customer expectation management skills necessary to instill confidence in TCS' products and services. Display a rigorous work ethic, and possess the initiative and independent thinking to thrive in rapidly growing and dynamic environment. Work closely with System and Software Engineers to resolve product problems. Responsible for reporting status of testing and deployment activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the following is necessary: Software testing and troubleshooting, basic computer hardware troubleshooting/installation, TCP/IP networking including router, hubs, firewalls and VPN.
Familiarity with TCP/IP, SS7, SMTP, SNMP, SMPP and other protocols, as well as, prior work in telecommunications industry a plus.
Other technical experience required:
-Unix/UNIX Networking: 1 to 2 years
-Software testing in a Unix environment: 1 to 2 years
-Unix Scripting and SQL Scripting: 1 to 2 years
-Relational DBs: 1 to 2 years
-Network Management tools/utilities SNMP, Solaris 8: 1 to 2 years
-Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering required.
