Description:
Under the direct supervision of the IT Operations Program Manager, the Configuration Engineer will be responsible for application support and software release management to Staging and or Client/User Acceptance Testing environments. They will also participate in, process improvement, and change-control advisory. They will use formal deployment procedures, change-control management, and quality assurance checks to ensure minimal application/environment downtime and the best possible client experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Will coordinate and be responsible for the deployment of certified software to the development, QA, Performance Lab and production-like testing environments through the approved SDLC procedures.
• Will serve as a team member responsible for implementing change-control compliance, process improvement, efficient communication, and mentoring.
• Provide to the CM various data points regarding the health of the software releases through the multiple stages.
• Will maintain consistent and stable production-like testing and or Client/User Acceptance Testing environments.
• Execute all builds
• Report all build issues to developers.
• Cooperate with developers to resolve all build issues.
• Maintains documentation and communication of scheduling, and test environment status.
• Will develop procedures for the collection and reporting of certain build artifacts and metrics.
• Works with development’s Project Management, quality assurance testers, and developers to troubleshoot and remediate issues found in the various test environments.
• Reports any perceived refinements in procedures and process improvements related to the SDLC to the CM.
• Communicates and suggests to management any concerns, improvements, and additional system requirements that affect the non-production or production environments.
• Will contribute to the formal procedures and auditing that directly support company compliance with SOX, SAS70, HIPPA, VISA PCI, Sigma and internal change management compliance policies as appropriate.

Skills and Abilities

• Extensive knowledge of one or more source control and configuration management products, preferably Perforce v4, Subversion, GNU Revision Control System, Team Foundation Server or Visual SourceSafe 6.
• Strong understanding of dependencies of the Java, .Net Assemblies, IIS and the MS .Net framework 1.1 / 2.0 / 3.5 on Windows 2000/2003 Server
• Strong experience with scalable, distributed enterprise windows environments.
• Strong understanding of Windows Server 2000/2003 operating system.
• Strong understanding of IIS 5.0 and 6.0 web servers and web-farm load balancing operations.
• Experience in Eclipse, Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0/2003/2005/2008, SQL Server 2005/2008.
• Advanced understanding of IP addressing and DNS
• Advanced understanding of software release workflows.
• Strong Communication Skills
• Ability to create/modify scripts and automation tools to streamline and enhance process
• Ability to create processes and documentation standards
• Comfortable in a fast-paced development environment

Requirements Experience

• Minimum 2 years enterprise software configuration management experience
• Minimum 2 years experience with IIS web server configuration in a Windows Server 2000, 2003 or 2008 environments
• Minimum 2 years experience with .Net windows services installation and configuration Required
• Required experience managing web applications in a multiple server web farm
• Prefer experience with J2SE, .Net, ANT, NAnt, and windows and Unix command line
• Prefer experience with Waterfall-based project management and Iterative Development
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science a plus
