Configuration Management Analyst Mid-Level

The Configuration Management Analyst is a Mid-Level position responsible for establishing the configuration management (CM) environment, policy and procedure guidelines, CM planning, reporting and audits, version control, and CM documentation and product component integration. The CM Analyst is familiar with the latest standards associated with configuration management and brings specialized skills in configuration and data management, and an ability to apply these skills effectively to all ongoing process development work. The Mid-Level CM Analyst usually works with minimum supervision, conferring with their superior on unusual matters. A CM Analyst possesses and applies a broad knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures related to data security to the completion of moderately difficult assignments. Essential Job Functions Develops and maintains account/region standards and procedures to ensure that configuration management controls are capable of supporting deployment activities and implementations to meet business needs. Interprets configuration management activities and tools as defined for the account and applies them to project activities. Works with the project manager to develop configuration management plans, milestones, and schedules for projects. Revises and assists in implementing new strategies as appropriate. Decomposes configuration items into appropriate configuration units for the specific projects or tasks. Identifies problem issues and recommends solutions as appropriate. Ensures version control integrity for software and non-software components by reviewing account requirements. Establishes approach for resolving discrepancies to ensure requirements are met. Performs audits for projects or accounts according to the configuration management plans. Ensures baselines are established and approved by the appropriate control board. Develops initial technical installation guidelines and other documentation of hardware and software standards to facilitate tracking. Assists customers and support personnel in understanding product configuration. Assists lead personnel for assigned accounts/regions. Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelor's degree in business administration, management information systems, or related field preferred Six or more years of configuration analysis experience Experience working with distributed computer systems, software and associated communication networks Experience working with networking principles and local area networks Experience working with company software and hardware products Other Qualifications Experience with multiplatform (e.g. NOT, and/or Linux, and/or UNIX) support required Experience with Java, Java Builds, and Websphere Experience with either Visual SourceSafe (VSS) or Subversion Experience designing or overseeing with version control and data management processes Knowledge of CMMI Levels 2 and 3 Experience with MKS is a plus Experience working with a Configuration Management Database (CMDB) preferred Good skills in configuring and installing various operating systems and application software Good communication skills to interact with team members, customers, and support personnel Good analytical and problem solving skills to resolve technological problems Leadership skills to instruct and mentor less experienced personnel Basic project management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team
