Construction Foreman Job in Mackay Harbour 4740, Queensland Australia

Our client is one of Australia’s largest port authorities by tonnage throughput and more than half of Queensland's trade, by tonnage, pass through our ports. Their aim is to be the recognised leader in the delivery of bulk cargo infrastructure.

Their facilities that they manage are vital to the export and import performance of Queensland and Australia. They handle bulk shipments of coal, bauxite, sand, sugar, grain, petroleum and general cargo and they are looking for an experienced Construction and Maintenance Foreman to become part of their fantastic company.

Essential requirements for this role include:-

• Completion of relevant trade certificate with subsequent relevant work experience in civil and structural construction and maintenance
• Ability to supervise the everyday tasks of multi-skilled labourers working together, including staff contributions to projects, setting team priorities and achieving positive client and work area outcomes
• knowledge and ability to interpret institute of Public Works Engineering Australia standard drawings, and Department of Main Road specifications, standard drawings and contracts
• Knowledge of surveying in the levelling area
• Demonstrated client focus

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively liaise with and independently provide information and advice to internal and external clients, both orally and in writing
• Ability to organise and prioritise own work activities and schedules to meet established deadlines and achieve high quality work outcomes.
• Demonstrated reasoning, judgement and analytical skills in the resolution of workplace issues.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Demonstrated computer literacy

 

**Experienced Industrial or Commercial carpenters with a background in overseeing a team will be highly considered also.

Desirable requirements:-

• Experience in a coastal and / or Seaport environment

Licence / Certificates Required:-

• Current Queensland Class C Licence
• 30215 QLD – Course in General Safety Induction (Construction Industry)
• Maritime Security ID Card (MSIC) - Not essential but must be willing to obtain

The following would be highly regarded:-

• Traffic Control Ticket
• Snr. First Aid Certificate
• Scaffolding Licence
• Commercial Poison Licence to spray herbicides and pests
• HR or LR licence
• Licences to operate plant / equipment (e.g. forklift, loader, bobcat, backhoe, elevated work platform, dogman)
