Construction Inspector Leader Job in Patrick Afb, Florida US
- Ascension Auxiliary Air Station Construction Inspector reports to Sr. Construction Supervisor. Will provide construction monitoring and coordination services for the Downrange Stations at Ascension and at Antigua AS.
- Construction Inspector will provide quality assurance monitoring of the contractor's work on a daily basis. This may include and not limited to that of performing job site submittal and As Built" verification.
- Construction Inspector will maintain current working construction files for active projects and maintain all documentation for the master project files on completed projects.
- During the design phase, the inspector will provide review comments for design packages, attend design review meetings, review designs for constructability and ensure that they are in accordance with Air Force and Station standard practices.
- Construction Inspector will ensure all work clearance and dig permits are reviewed and coordinated with contractors' work plans and with required Station personnel.
- Inspector is responsible for coordinating construction activities including; service interruptions, excavations and fire and safety issues with applicable Station departments.
- Inspector must perform daily inspections of all construction projects and is responsible for verifying that all materials and equipment are in accordance with approved submittals and/or shop drawings. Construction Inspector will observe daily work sites and report any safety or quality concerns and/or any incidental damage to government property during construction.
- As requested, inspector shall schedule and coordinate final inspection of all construction projects.
- Construction Inspector shall review contractor's as-built drawing submittal for accuracy and completeness and prepare letter of Final Inspection Acceptance which stipulates the day the warranty period commences.
- The Construction Inspector may be required to assist with Station Emergency Response activities.
- Construction Inspector shall provide interface coordination between CSR uprange and downrange organizations and contractors.
- May be asked to assist with other station matters as appropriate.
- Construction Inspector will be expected to travel between Ascension and Antigua Air Stations, as requested, to perform duties.
Qualifications
- Associate degree preferred but equivalent experience is considered.
- Must have five years construction inspection experience on commercial, industrial and/or government construction projects.
- Thorough knowledge of principles and practices associated with construction inspections and business operations. Familiar with electrical, plumbing work and general building codes.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Must maintain an effective working relationship with Air Force, management, supervisors, subcontractor employees and public in a multi-cultural environment.
- Occasional scheduled and unscheduled overtime and weekends may be required.
- Familiarity with department processes, (ISO 9001) and dedicated to the application of continuous improvement methodologies. (Lean Six Sigma) desired. ISO 9001 and Six Sigma concepts desired.
- Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritizes, and is detailed oriented.
- Computer skills are a must - Proficient with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- This is a remote overseas assignment on Ascension Island, and no family accommodations are available.
- Obtain and maintain a favorable NACI .
- Valid U.S. Driver's license and U.S. Passport required.
