Construction Manager
Location: Kitimat, BC V8C1T6
Construction Manager – Ridley Terminal Capacity Realization Project
Position Summary:
Management of all aspects of work in assigned area of construction to ensure the Project is delivered safely, efficiently, within budget and in compliance with WorleyParsons’ policies, regulations, permits, licences and plans.
This excellent opportunity is suited to a Construction Manager with a proven background on industrial scale construction projects. Candidates who have experience working on iron ore sites, materials handling expansions, refineries and process plants that involve complex structural mechanical pipework and other associated mechanical installations such as stackers, reclaimers and car dump converyors will be highly regarded.
The incumbent will provide the leadership and guidance for the Owner’s Construction Management Team located in Prince Rupert; ensuring work is completed in line with the contractual obligations.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage and monitor daily construction activities.
- Provide technical advice and troubleshooting for construction, design and operational issues.
- Effectively manages the interface between various subcontractors and scopes of work.
- Review workplans and conduct pre-activity meetings with all stakeholders prior to the commencement of a new work package.
- Actively manages risk mitigation plans and ensures senior management are kept fully abreast of all key issues.
- Compile daily reports and other technical papers as required to mitigate possible contractor claims.
- Implements safety management systems and the application of HSE principles on construction projects.
- Facilitates effective communication between all internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform cost and schedule reviews for the project on a routine basis.
- Develop and implement staff rotation rosters to ensure supervision coverage of the project at all times.
Experience, knowledge skills required:
- At least 10 years’ experience in construction management (coal or materials handlin), either as part of the Owners’ team or top tier general contractor
- Educated in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical.
- Experience managing substantial capital projects ($20m – 100m)
- Proficient in the application of project controls, systems and practices
- Self-motivated with excellent work ethic
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy with Microsoft office tools
- Clear decision making processes
- Ability to relocate or work FIFO roster from Vancouver
