Construction Products Sales Representative Job in Dallas, Texas US

Position: Sales Representative

 

Position Scope:

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the Sales Representative must represent the company in a professional manner that promotes an environment which creates opportunity to sell products by developing and maintaining consultative relationships with customers and prospects in the following defined segments; Distributors, Custom Home Builders, Roofing Contractors, Regional and Local Production Builders, Multi-Family Builders and Architects. Sales Representatives must develop a thorough understanding of the needs of these segments and key customers within the segments.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

Duties and Responsibilities are grouped into three main areas:

 

Sales Territory Management:

1.      Sell products and services in the assigned territory to achieve targets/quotas by representing the company’s products in defined segments.

(a)   Work with architects and designers so that, wherever possible, the company’s products are specified in the original planning documents.

(b)   Interpret data obtained from lead generation, industry/market data, research, and other reporting.

(c)    Consistently drive product performance to achieve market share, sales growth and ASP.

 

2.      Develop and maintain territory plans to achieve company and regional business plan objectives and sales goals as provided by Sales Manager.

3.      Establish and maintain positive customer relations by regularly visiting current and potential customers.

(a)   Build a strong rapport with key decision makers within customers’ organizations

(b)   Participate in local building and roofing association affairs.

(c)    Be well versed in customer business operations and their need for products, intangibles, key personnel and customers.

4.      Provide information concerning marketing opportunities and competitive products and companies to regional and corporate managers.

(a)   Recommend changes in company products, practices and marketing activities to capitalize on current competitive situations in the territory.

 

5.      Operate territory business within a given expense budgetary limit.

 

6.      Maintain company automobile and other property in good repair and follow company safety and safe driving policy.


Customer Service Support:

7.      Manage customer complaints in accordance with company policy.

8.      Coordinate with accounting personnel to keep customer accounts receivable current.

9.      Provide technical advice to current and potential customers through:

(a)   Distributing technical literature

(b)   Arrange demonstrations and training sessions

 

Administration

10.  On  a timely basis, submit all written and electronically transmitted sales reports and forecasts.

11.  Participate in prescribed sales, technical, and product training programs and direction for achievement of sales objectives.

12.  Manage the information database on customers so that management and internal partners can more effectively assist in matching customer needs with product offerings.

 

JOB-RELATED QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

 

Education

Ÿ         Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or other related field.

 

Knowledge/Skills

Ÿ         Strong proven ability to aggressively grow sales territory.

Ÿ         Knowledge of roofing products and components.

Ÿ         Excellent Interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively at all levels. 

Ÿ         Strong Work Ethic with Leadership aptitude and an organized, results oriented style

Ÿ         Drive results through problem solving and decision making capabilities.

Ÿ         Planning and prioritizing skills, but also able to improvise when needed.

Ÿ         Strong desire to expand knowledge, skills and experience

Ÿ         Understanding of finance, accounting and budgeting principles.

Ÿ         Proficient with and Microsoft Office software required, SAP enterprise software desired

 

Work Experience

Ÿ         5+ years of sales management experience selling products to wholesale, builders or contractors.

Ÿ         Management responsibilities of at least 3+ sales representatives.

 

Licenses or Certificates

Ÿ         Employee must posses a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
