Consultancy Business Development Manager (Water Industry) recruitment

 Responsibilities:

• Securing new business to achieve the annual consultancy sales targets in the water industry - through consultative business development rather than 'hard-sell' techniques.

• Working with trade associations / research bodies to leverage our secretariat services

• Working with central bodies to support central systems

• Working with Regulator / Government departments to provide expert advice and support, lessons

• Understanding needs and requirements of different stakeholders and maximising opportunities to secure new business

• Attending client presentations, conferences and events to gather market intelligence

• Develops deep and broad relationship with Government Departments / Regulators (DEFRA, Scottish Government, Welsh Assembly, WICS, OFWAT, NIAUR)  

• Developing new propositions in accordance with business requirements

• Leading bid responses and proposals, responding to tenders and working alongside other members of the business development team

• Needs to speak confidently, and with authority, on all water related subjects.  Breadth could include price controls, supply, sewerage

In addition, experience in the following would be desirable:

• In-depth knowledge of UK water industry

• Experience of applying sales and marketing techniques

• Experience of working within a large scale FTSE100 / utility company

• Client management, including ability to influence and negotiate, developing partnership relationships

• Experience of developing sales strategy and planning and managing sales activity

• Sound financial management including understanding of budgeting, financial modelling, reporting and management accounting techniques
