Consumables Buyer Job in Leamington Spa, Midlands UK
Our client is a leading manufacturer of engineered products and is looking to recruit a buyer to work at their offices in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. The role will be challenging and varied and would suit a self-starter with ambitions to develop their career as my client are happy to fund CIPS studies and further development.
The primary responsibility of the role will be to purchase consumables and services for the company to the highest quality levels, ensuring best cost value and effectiveness of supply, in line with company policies.
Key duties and responsibilities;
- Negotiating with suppliers to achieve best value costs and develop continuous improvement partnerships to ensure trading in the most ethical way
- Producing, analysing and improving supplier contracts
- Provide reports/graphics as appropriate using relevant technology
- Identifying potential suppliers and developing contingency plans
- Developing market knowledge and contacts for new products and services
- Evaluating proposals and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors
- Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives
- Liaising with users and other relevant parties
- Checking costs, quality and levels of service
Skills/Experience required;
- Previous experience of working within a purchasing department in the manufacturing sector
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines, problem solve and challenge assumptions
- Proven negotiating, commercial and influencing skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritise assignments
- Membership of the Chartered Institute would be advantageous.
