Consumer Compliance Officer recruitment
Responsibilities:
- Inform management and support teams of all key developments related to regulatory consumer compliance and determine the impact of those developments to the Bank.
- Ensure existing and proposed Bank business practices, policies, procedures, loans, deposits, software systems, documents and disclosures comply with federal and state regulations.
- Stay abreast of all federal and state regulatory changes related to deposit lending, and privacy. Ensure changes are communicated to and addressed by the Bank’s senior management.
- Manage the Bank’s consumer compliance program and serve as primary contact for consumer regulation support and management of the compliance program.
- Assist with the analysis and documentation of compliance and legal risks; develop appropriate controls to manage risk.
- Advise and consult with staff throughout the organization on related consumer protection laws and regulations requirements.
- Conduct fair lending reviews.
- Serve as contact for consumer compliance audits and regulatory examinations
- Assist with the coordination and remediation for consumer compliance audits and regulatory examinations.
- Keep abreast of all consumer protection laws and regulations relating to the Bank’s activities, including Deposit Regulations; Advertising Regulations, Interest on Deposits, Electronic Fund Transfer Act (Regulations E) and Regulation CC; Lending Regulations; Truth-In-Lending (Regulation Z); Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Regulation B); Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA); Flood Insurance Requirements and Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (Regulation C); Other Operational Regulations: FCRA/FACTA, Fair Debit Collection Act; Privacy Rules and Regulations (GLBA), Information Security and Right to Financial Privacy Act, Know Your Customer (KYC), Customer Identification Program (CIPA).
- Complete all mandatory compliance training within prescribed timeframes.
- Ensure new product development, system initiatives and other projects adequately consider and address compliance related issues.
- Work closely with legal department and other compliance related resources to interpret new and existing laws and regulations and communicate those interpretations to applicable personnel.
- On an as-needed basis, perform research on regulatory issues that is thorough, accurate and timely. Communicate the results of the research to management for action plans to be developed if applicable.
Requirements:
- BA degree or equivalent experience.
- Five (5) years regulatory compliance experience; CRCM designation preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of consumer compliance laws and regulations including lending, deposits, fair lending and privacy rules and regulations.
- Must have prior bank experience, ability to analyze and interpret legal and statutory materials as well as federal and state regulations.
- Direct experience dealing with regulators (FDIC, FRC, OCC, NYSDFS)
- Strong background in federal and state deposit and lending laws.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
