CONSUMER LN UNDERWRITER 2

Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, approving and underwriting moderate individual consumer requests and products within company and industry guidelines. Dependent on division, functions may include evaluating and ensuring overall loan documents are accurate, complete, and compliant; reviewing of financial statements, credit reports, applicable ratios (i.e. Debt ratios, loan-to-value) and other supporting documentation; using an automated scoring system or traditional underwriting to determine acceptability of moderate requests; contacting customers and partners to gather information to make appropriate decisions, explain rationale behind credit decisions, and/or to sell/promote line products; staying abreast of any changes in underwriting provisions; working with production to resolve questions when possible. Basic Qualifications: 2+ years underwriting or related industry experience. Minimum Qualifications: - Thorough understanding of underwriting policies and procedures, including investor guidelines and regulatory updates. - Thorough knowledge of FNMA, and FMLMC guidelines and standards. - Experience with income validation including personal and corporate tax forms. - Experience in Appraisal Review. - Ability to handle confidential material in a professional, highly ethical manner. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills and possessing a high degree of attention to detail. - Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain professional relationships with clients, customers, and co-workers. - Time management and organization skills to effectively prioritize multiple objectives and achieve volume goals. - Experience in talking with the borrower about loan decision. - Must be able to work in a production/flexible environment. - Must be able to work overtime as needed. - Intermediate PC and keyboarding skills, including experience with Windows operating systems.
