Where you will be working.
You will be working in our company headquarters in El Segundo, near beautiful Manhattan Beach.
What you will do.
- Big Picture: Through your research and work you will help determine the pricing policy for the US subsidiary of Tesco, the 3rd largest retailer in the world and a world-class company. You will be working with a team of individuals with significant business experience in retail and other industries, and from whom you will learn a lot about the retail business, market research, data analysis and hard skills such as advanced Excel, Access, and statistical packages. Furthermore, the manager of this team is invested in your personal career development, as our team philosophy is that “all boats rise together”.
- You will be responsible for creating weekly pricing reports, review and compile data from our data collection agency, generate pricing reports, ad-hoc reports and any reports to address new issues or to test existing hypotheses.
- You will also be responsible for co-management of the price reporting systems within the fresh easy data warehouse, identifying price claims made on the internet and incorporating them into weekly reporting, collecting competitor information via store visits within California and other states, coordinating price collection with auditors, documentation and communication of pricing policy and changes in pricing policy and helping all fe teams with pricing or other projects as required.
- You will also be analyzing large amounts of data to identify trends, issues and errors in data and analyses, analyzing issues from quantitative and qualitative points of view, solving problems that are non-routine issues requiring analysis and drawing conclusions, developing and implementing changes to processes, ensuring (and continually striving to improve) data integrity and accuracy, and maintaining price check lists and taking care of related tasks.
- You will be working in a close team and collaborating with the marketing, commercial, trade planning and IT departments and working in ad-hoc project teams requiring pricing information.
Who we are looking for.
- We are looking for someone with a Bachelor’s degree. Your degree is preferably, but not limited to, economics, business, or a quantitative field; if you have a different degree, we prefer candidates with quantitative work experience. We are looking for candidates with a semester to 2 years work experience (preferably with work study/internship experience) in an analytical role who is capable of analyzing quantitative and qualitative data with a keen attention to detail.
- You must have intermediate to advanced Microsoft excel experience and a willingness to reach advanced levels. Experience with Microsoft Access, PowerPoint and SQL is a plus, but not required. Willingness to learn these is required.
- We are also looking for someone comfortable with travel to other parts of California, as well as Arizona and Nevada (every 2-3 months max for 2-3 days max), and a willingness to visit local competitor stores in Los Angeles to collect or verify information. This may require visits on a weekly basis.
- We are also looking for someone with strong communication skills, both verbal and written, strong organizational skills, ability to meet key fixed deadlines, ability to coordinate efficiently with others to deliver documentation and reports and an ability to interact with external players, such as our external data collection agency.
- No prior retail or pricing experience is necessary but strong team work skills are necessary.
