Summary:
This position will focus primarily in acting as a liaison with other Vistaprint engineering teams to help them understand the current state of operations, implement step change improvements, and apply best practices on optimizing both existing and new product process flows.
This person will lead cross functional teams and act as the plant's primary interface with all existing equipment vendors.
This individual will work closely with Product and Process Launch and Systems Engineering teams to ensure that all plant policy deployment objectives are met and exceeded.
Essential Functions:
- In cooperation with the engineering team, assist in new product and equipment integration and development focusing on the manufacturing process requirements
- Participate in process improvement activities including design, development, and modification of the manufacturing operations and work flow
- Responsibility for improving manufacturing operation efficiencies through the identification and resolution of manufacturing problems associated with the process, equipment systems, and elimination of waste such as scrap reduction, increasing machine efficiencies, reducing changeovers, initiating quality improvements, and investigating alternative processes
- Support new equipment procurement by acting as liaison with machine builders, including the specification of the design requirements ensuring compliance with applicable codes in conjunction with the Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator and making recommendations on purchasing decisions, with responsibilities for supporting the installation and start-up of new press equipment
- Partner with associated Vistaprint plants and engineering facilities to ensure rapid adoption and implementation of best practices
- Partner with IBP owners for knowledge sharing
- Partner with Process Improvement Specialist to prioritize and support common discussion on whiteboard issues.
- Develop RD activities with external sources, professional groups and universities.
- Lead and/or facilitate improvement projects for existing work flows to enable step change improvements
- Support Vistaprint's mission, vision, strategic plan, goals and management decisions
- Other duties as required
Education Training:
BS or equivalent in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
Experience:
- 7+ years of manufacturing experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures and machinery
- Knowledge of material handling and conveyance, packaging and logistics
- Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Ability to demonstrate task management and timeline control
- Preference will be given to those who possess an excellent manufacturing or process engineering background, a superior mechanical aptitude and proven trouble-shooting skills
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels, and all positions, within organization
- Have excellent computer skills and knowledge of the following software packages : Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Mini Tab, Simulation software
- Six Sigma black belt or green belt
- Hands-on, assertive and motivated to ensure that plant meets aggressive goals.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, as well as on a team, prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to apply Systems perceptive to all activities, in order to optimize the entire product flow (i.e. drive out silo thinking)
- Incumbent will have a passion for excellence in people, processes and analytics. This is a hands-on position that will require a self-motivated, high energy level individual
