Contract

Our key Government of Canada client has a requirement for a DB2 database administrator to assist their staff in managing and maintaining their DB2 OS/390. The initial contract is set to run until March 31, 2012 with a possible extension. The successful resource will:

(1) Install and support UDB/DB2 in a 24hour, 7 days per week Parallel Sysplex Data Sharing environment.
(2) Monitor and size Coupling Facility structures.
(3) Plan and implement Data Sharing groups.
(4) Monitor and tune DB2' utilization of system resources.
(5) Monitor and tune DB2 subsystem performance.
(6) Implement disaster recovery procedures for UDB/DB2 subsystems.
(7) Install and supports UDB/DB2 related thirdparty software products.
(8) Perform capacity planning for UDB/DB2 environment.
(9) Run backups, recoveries, reorganizations, and other database utilities.
(10) Provide guidance regarding industry best practices and the effective use of the UDB/DB2 environment.
(11) Perform a variety of handson technical work on the host mainframe platform, related to UDB/DB2.
(12) Research and analyse new releases and features of UDB/DB2 and make recommendations on their applicability to
requirements.
