Summary:
The CAD/CAE Administrator is responsible for providing on-site and remote technical support for MCAD, ECAD, and Software Engineering teams. Generally, this person will perform direct user support, application administration, technical management of CAD/CAE applications, and related administration of engineering hardware infrastructure and desktop platforms. Additional responsibilities will include planning and deploying application upgrades/updates, writing useful scripts, license management, writing documentation, contributing to team planning efforts, and coordinating some activities of vendors supplying products and services to Harman.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Provide desk-side and remote IT and user support of engineering applications and systems
• Perform engineering-related system administration of Windows XP, Windows 7, and UNIX/Linux PCs and servers
• Configure and maintain desktop platform hardware and software to host CAD/CAE environments
• Configure and validate new versions/releases of engineering applications and related technology
• Configure, test, deploy, and manage OEM-specific CAD/CAE toolkits for GM, FORD, Chrysler/FIAT, et al
• Participate in deployment of new CAE/CAD solutions
• Provide technical management and support of engineering application licenses
• Identify and document users requirements for engineering support activities related to OEM's, e.g. data xfer
• Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing engineering systems projects with internal/external customers
• Provide assistance with application migrations

Basic Qualifications:
• BS Computer Science plus 3+ years related experience or, 7+ years related experience
• 2+ years experience system administration of Windows XP, Windows 7, and UNIX/Linux operating systems
• 2+ years of experience providing hands-on technical support of CAD and engineering applications such as:
   o CATIA V5
   o Pro Engineer/Creo
   o Windchill PDMLink ProjectLink
   o Siemens NX
   o Solidworks
   o Mentor Graphics Expedition, Design Capture, Valor, EFD, HFSS
   o Ansys
   o NI Labview
• In-depth knowledge of engineering applications running on Windows XP/Win7 and Linux platforms
• Experienced and comfortable working in high-complexity, global IT environments
• Experience using licensing applications such as Flexlm, LUM, and Volume License Management
• Experience writing effective shell scripts to automate support tasks for engineering applications and systems
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff in a global, virtual team environment
• Complete tasks and assignments as deemed necessary by management

Desired Characteristics:
• Current knowledge of industry trends and topics related to engineering applications
• Windows XP to Windows 7 64-bit migration of engineering applications
• Prepare/update Documentation and Procedures for various applications and processes
• Maintain and support customization of various CAD/CAE applications
• Virtualization (VMware)
• Hands-On experience with HP and Lenovo servers/desktops/notebooks
