Job Title: Contract Development Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: West Midlands

Salary: £30-36 per hour (dependent on experience)
6 month contract (can be extended)

Role summary

You will be a key contributor to the generation of Verification test evidence demonstrating compliance to our customer's requirements. The Development Engineer is responsible for setting up and carrying out Development and Qualification testing in accordance with approved test procedures. All equipment used shall be suitable for the application, correctly calibrated and safe. Ability to follow test procedures explicitly, record and analyze data is a key function of the role.

Working within a multi-disciplined team, the Development Engineer must be pro-active, resourceful and dedicated to meeting programme commitments.

Principle Accountabilities

• Working in a safe manner
• Adherence to Engineering Process and Standard Work
• Build of Engineering units, mounting to and operation of Production Test Rigs.
• Performing Functional / Acceptance tests on engineering units.
• Correct interpretation of test parameters and requirements.
• Build and dry running of Qualification test set ups.
• Performing Qualification Tests where required, monitoring and recording of test data.
• Keeping accurate test records, analysis of results vs. requirements.
• Operation of Engineering Qualification test rigs
• Management of off-site testing including transportation, assembly and commissioning of all necessary support equipment.
• Generation and issue of Qualification / Development documentation.
• Management of post test inspection requirements for engineering hardware.
• Good appreciation of EH S requirements in the workplace
• ONC / HNC qualified in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Good practical knowledge and understanding of hydro-mechanical engineering principles.
• Knowledge of electrical, electro-mechanical and electronics would be beneficial.
• Proven capability in development and qualification testing.
• Proven capability of technical problem resolution.
• Proven ability in understanding aerospace test specifications.
• Proven ability to define engineering test fixtures and instrumentation required to successfully perform Qualification tests.
• Operates with the highest level of personal integrity.
• Computer literate; familiar with general PC software (e.g. Windows, MS Office).
• Flexible approach with willingness to work as part of a multi-disciplined team
• Calm under pressure and responsive to change
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Dynamic, resourceful and able to work using own initiative
