DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for performance of work performed at various Air Force installations throughout the continental United States. Facility types may include administrative, industrial, medical, dining, aircraft hangars, fire stations, vehicle maintenance and composite facilities typical of a military installation. Employees shall follow procedures in accordance with the National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) Procedural Standards for Retro-Commissioning of Existing Buildings (RCx-EB) 2009 1st Edition. Individuals should also be familiar with the Department of Energy Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) resources, guidelines, energy estimating methods and standards. Extensive travel up to 240 days per year will be required.
- Analysis of existing HVAC system operating and energy usage parameters.
- Maintenance and repair of HVAC system components necessary to restore system to original design parameters and efficiency (subject to monetary constraints as outlined below).
- Test and Balance (TAB) of air and hydronic systems and calibration/verification of control systems.
- Modification of control system set points, setbacks, and scheduling as necessary to conform to published guidance.
- Verification of performance improvement and assessment of energy optimization/reduction achieved
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
- 10 plus years testing and balancing, commissioning, and recommissionng of large commercial and industrial HVAC systems. This includes, but is not limited to, using test equipment for measuring air, water, temperature, and humidity and assessing the relationships of these physical properties to ensure new and existing facilities’ HVAC systems work in accordance with the engineer’s design intent. This knowledge includes concepts of design and function for HVAC and direct digital controls (DDC).
- Demonstrate Mechanical skills as required to repair, replace, or adjust HVAC components as necessary to return the system to optimal operational condition.
- Computer knowledge of Windows, MS Excel and MS Word and the ability to write clear and concise reports of visit with correct formatting and technical input.
