Job Title: Contract Test Rig Commissioning Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: West Midlands

Salary: £25-33 per hour (dependent on experience)
6 month contract (can be extended)

Position Purpose/Objective

The Test Rig Commissioning Engineer provides test rig support to the Technical Lead - Test Rigs in achieving rig deliveries against program requirements on-time in full, being responsible for commissioning of test rigs from planning through to customer handover.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Definition of commissioning activities against equipment and test specifications
• Planning and execution of commissioning of test equipment.
• Pre and post-delivery inspections of test equipment in accordance with specified acceptance criteria.
• Liaising with suppliers, works engineers and other members of the test rig group to ensure timely delivery and installation is achieved.
• Generating documentation associated with commissioning process, including technical files, reports and certificates.
• Liaise with calibration service provider to establish calibration procedures.
• Liaise with Engineering teams, suppliers and other departments on site to ensure timely accomplishment of plan.
• Maintain technical files and other appropriate documentation for test equipment.
Support Environmental Health and Safety requirements and initiatives, including Risk Assessments.
• Support engineering rig and equipment breakdowns inspection, fault finding and re-commissioning.

Qualifications/Experience/Requirements

Experienced in all aspects of commissioning hydra-mechanical and electro-mechanical test equipment.

Skills Required:

• Ability to understand and commission hydraulic, electrical and mechanical equipment, at component and system level.
• Able to define, assemble and test and trouble shoot hydraulic systems, including electro-hydraulic equipment.
• Multi-skilled - hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic and instrumentation working knowledge.
• Flexible - adapts to changing priorities, and is able to make decisions within time constraints.
• Forward thinking - able to plan ahead.
• Multi-tasking - is able to work on multiple projects.
• Team player - can work with a variety of positions both senior and junior.
• Good communicator - written and oral skills.
