Job Description

Scope of Position:

Work in a team based group, to support and develop manufacturing process control systems and user interfaces in a high technology manufacturing setting. Assume ownership of systems that controls production equipment.

Complete process improvement projects with emphasis on lean manufacturing.

Capital projects will focus on maintenance of business and/or cost reduction.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

-  Integrates field devices for flow control, material handling and metering, motion control, temperature control, and associated safety systems into an overall controls package enabling a fully-functional equipment platform.

-  Works closely with IT process engineers to define analog digital channel requirements, control sequence logic (both time-based and event-based), fail-safe states and process / equipment recovery sequences.

 

-  Selects and specifies field devices to accomplish desired process / equipment functions, and compatible / compliant with site standards.

-  Works closely with Engineering project team and eventual Production Operation receivers to determine design requirements and constraints.

-  Drives to clarify design requirements when they are ambiguous or unknown.

-  Designs controls solutions vice replicating and/or scaling existing equipment designs.

Requirements:

 

Required Education:

B.S. Electrical Engineering with 2-5 years of experience

 

Required Years and Area of Experience:

3 + years equipment/controls experience

 

Required Skills:

-  Experience integrating field devices for flow control, material handling and metering, motion control, temperature control, and associated safety systems into an overall controls package enabling a fully-functional equipment platform.

-  Experience working closely with IT process engineers to define analog digital channel requirements, control sequence logic (both time-based and event-based), fail-safe states and process / equipment recovery sequences.

-  Experience selecting and specifying field devices to accomplish desired process / equipment functions, and compatible / compliant with site standards.

*  Experience with graphical user interface and human machine interface.

-  Experience working closely with Engineering project team and eventual Production Operation receivers to determine design requirements and constraints.

-  Drives to clarify design requirements when they are ambiguous or unknown.

-  Accurately estimates timeframe to complete project work, once scope of work is adequately defined, then completes work to agreed-to timeline.

-  Demonstrated ability to design controls solutions vice replicating and/or scaling existing equipment designs.

 

Desired Skills:

Experience preferred but not required with Beckhoff, Labview, Allen-Bradley and similar safety PLC systems

Location: Eastern NC, RTP region

Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000

Experience Range: 3 to 7 years
