Controller – Information Technology Department Job in Jersey City 07097, New Jersey US
Our client, a major international bank with offices in Jersey City, NJ is seeking a Controller for the Technology Department. This role will be responsible for reporting and analysis of technology spend, allocation of spend to specific business units, IT budgeting and forecasting, strategic planning, improving processes, and procedures, and ensuring execution and implementation of financial processes.
Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for financial reporting and analysis of IT Spend – consulting, third party services, telecommunications, market data, hardware, software
- Provide month end reporting
- Oversee the allocation of expenses to business units
- Strong budget and cost analysis experience
- Critically challenge existing processes with the goal of identifying and implementing process improvements
- Conduct quarterly impairment reviews to insure assets are being accelerated or written off upon as necessary. Ensure all incurred costs are recorded properly
- Interact with various departments including Corporate Financial Reporting, Corporate Regulatory Reporting, Corporate Accounting Policy, IB Controllers and CFOs, and senior management
- Provide analytical support to manager on a regular and ad hoc basis
Job Requirements:
· 8+ years of experience as a Controller for the Technology group in the financial services industry (preferred)
· Excellent general accounting experience
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills and strategic thinker that can achieve business objectives
· Ability to multi-task with strong organizational and time management skills
· Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
· Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management
· Highly proficient in Microsoft Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
· Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in Accounting
· CPA is preferred, but not required
