Position Overview
The Controller directs Accounting and Finance activities of the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
Primary Responsibilities
* Establishes, or recommends to management, major divisional economic strategies, objectives, and policies for company.
* Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
* Ensure that each month-end is closed properly and that all costs are accountant for
* Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
* Provides management with timely reviews of the organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities.
* Coordinates audits of company's accounts
* Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
* Supervises the activities of the finance and accounting staff. Reviews their work as required. Provide guidance when problems arise. Trains them for improved performance and additional responsibilities. Evaluates their performance and motivate them to development of their full potential.
* Lead and develop an effective accounting team
* Work with other accounting teams to continually improve accounting and reporting processes
* Partner with Operations and Business Unit Leadership to drive performance improvements
* Be an advocate for CI at all times
* Develop and provide effective processes and controls
* Utilize and support the PDPR process as required by the business unit and Finance
* Partner with management in creating policy deployment objectives and initiatives
* Ensure accounting operations are in compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and all international legal or statutory requirements
* Actively manage expectations and risks (no surprises), identify areas of opportunity or improvement
Required:
* Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and 7-10 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, complex financial reports, and legal documents.
* Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
* Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
* Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
* Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
* Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
* Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
* Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
* Ability to apply principles of logical and strategic thinking as well as contribute to the overall vision of the company.
Preferred:
* An MBA or CPA.
* Six Sigma, LPT or CPS certification
