Controller
Job summary
Successful candidate will manage the financial reporting, billing, budgeting and analysis processes and functions.
Summary of essential job functions
- Manage and direct Carrier Accounting, Accounting, Treasury, and Payroll functions. Supervise and oversee the performance to ensure adherence to established performance standards
- Maintain appropriate accounting systems, including Oracle R11, to ensure the complete, accurate, and timely reporting of financial information in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory agencies
- Establish financial systems strategy to support business growth and accounting efficiency, including upgrade from Oracle R11 to Oracle R12, deployment of additional Oracle ERP modules, auto recon software, etc.
- Develop, implement, and maintain budgeting for all business units including monitoring performance to plan
- Develop transparency into business performance including key performance drivers and partnering with leaders to develop strategies to address gaps
- Advise, counsel, and interpret accounting implication of operating activities
- Carry out special projects as assigned by the Executive Management team relating to the operations of the business
- Provide financial analysis of operations to identify areas for cost reduction, improved cash flow, and revenue enhancement
- Implement policy and procedures and other internal controls to provide for the control and safeguarding of assets
- Coordinate annual audit and tax return preparations with outside accounting firm
- Work closely with other departments to ensure a smooth, efficient financial operation
- Hire, orient, supervise, train and evaluate the finance/accounting department and staff
- Maintain professional working relationship with outside third parties: banks, investment advisors, CPA firms, suppliers, customers, etc.
- Other duties as required by business needs or as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Oracle ERP experience. Preference for a person with Oracle R11 to R12 upgrade experience
- 5 years as controller in either mid size firm or large firm division
- 10+ years accounting / controllership related experience
- 5+ years personnel management
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA preferred. Strong academic background desired.
