We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our team in Laguna Hills, CA.

Job Description:
With the expected rapid growth, we are seeking a full-time Controller. This versatile business professional will be responsible for all aspects of accounting and finance activities. The successful candidate must be hands on and detailed oriented and will be involved in the day to day accounting including all required reporting and compliance to government contracting agencies, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, cost tracking, payroll and general ledger maintenance. This individual will also be responsible for preparing financial forecasts, budgets and trend analysis and reviewing actuals to budget. The Controller will report directly to CFO, VP Operations. This position is located in our Orange County, Southern California headquarters.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform all government contract analysis and allocations including labor cost tracking and verification of timekeeping records, job costing reporting, indirect cost rate calculations, monthly updates of indirect rates and calculation of provisional rates for Defense Contractor Audit Agency (DCAA) proposals.
- Gather, record, summarize and report all transactions in compliance with policies and government funding authorities and in accordance with best practices.
- Complete project billings for all government contracts. Track and report payment of invoices by government.
- Prepare records and represent Company (with CFO) in annual DCAA audits.
- Review all expenses with executives to account for ongoing needs and unforeseen needs.
- Work closely with CFO and President on annual budgets and program needs.
- Track actuals versus planned for all budgets.
- Forecast expenses and present to executives on monthly basis.
- Review/reconcile all IRS tax records and report to CFO for final review.
- Track and report all payments to vendors. Negotiate best payment terms with vendors.
- Review expense (reimbursement) reports and receipts; Resolving any unallowables with CFO.
- Enter expenses, invoices, payments and journal entries into Quickbooks.
- Update payroll/vacation spreadsheets.
- Some travel required to Washington, DC/Northern-Virginia metro area for government meetings.
Job Requirements or Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
- CPA Certification a plus
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in Accounting and Finance is required
- Knowledge/experience of Federal Government/Department of Defense (DoD) accounting practice and contracts is strongly preferred
Abilities and Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent oral presentation skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications including, but not limited to, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Must be very proficient with QuickBooks
