Patriot Flooring Supply, Inc., a distributor of flooring products and a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, Inc., has an exciting opportunity for an experienced financial manager to serve as the Controller of this growing business with 2 locations in the Northeast: Pompton Plains, NJ and Wilmington, MA.
We are seeking a finance business partner who is capable of linking financial information to business performance, understands the financial drivers of running a sales oriented/distributor organization and has the energy and enthusiasm to "roll up the sleeves" and get involved in all aspects of the business. More importantly, this position consults with the sales organization to analyze the impact of price, volume and mix on sales and operating income. Also, you will conduct cost benefit analyses to drive business decisions; develop pricing strategies and be involved in designing sales programs and sales compensation.
As the finance leader of this growing business, you will manage a 5 person team responsible for all finance/accounting activities at both sites relating to the general ledger, standard costs, credit, receivables, payables, and payroll. You will establish standards costs and align expenses; lead month and year end closing cycle processes; oversee the physical inventories; direct and monitor cashflow; prepare consolidated summary and monthly reporting of the business's financial statements including variance analyses and commentary and present to Armstrong senior management; construct monthly forecasts and annual budgets; and establish internal controls structure to manage/minimize financial risk.
This position reports to the Patriot Flooring General Manager with a strong dotted line to the Armstrong General Manager, General Accounting. Travel between the 2 locations and Lancaster, PA is expected, at least once a quarter (
This is a tremendous opportunity for the successful candidate to come in on the ground floor, and as a member of the senior management team, set the finance strategies of Patriot. Additionally, the position will work closely with the Armstrong General Manager, General Accounting, Patriot Flooring General Manager and the sales and distribution organizations to identify and model the financial impact of future business and growth opportunities. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in accounting or finance
- 10 to 12 years of accounting/finance experience in a distributor environment with at least 6 years of experience as a Controller.
- Proven finance operational leadership experience, especially in implementing and supporting change
- Proven technical accounting and analysis skills including financial modeling, variance analysis, gross profit analysis, etc.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications with advanced knowledge and use of Excel and Access
- 3 to 5 years supervisory experience.
- Experience delivering presentations to management and senior executives
Desired Qualifications:
- CPA, CMA or other similar accounting professional certification
- Experience with Gartman or similar Distribution Management Software (DMS) is an asset
- Proficiency with complex financial reporting systems (SAP, Hyperion, JD Edwards, etc.) a plus.
