BASIC FUNCTION:  The Controller is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Company’s financial plans and policies, and is directly responsible for its accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records and the preparation of financial reports.  The Controller is also responsible to provide appropriate supervision of the Accounting department.

 

v     College degree in Accounting or Finance.

v     Five years direct experience in the field with progressive career advancement.

v     Expertise in managerial financial reporting and analysis.

v     Solid experience in preparing financial statements, financial forecasting and budgeting.

v     Excellent communicate skills, both written and verbal.

v     Strong planning, organization, complex problem solving and analytical skills.

v     Proven leadership skills with ability to build trust, provide direction, drive alignment and execute with excellence.

v     Ensures an adequate system of internal control is maintained, mitigating inherent control risk.

v     Ability to work under pressure.

v     Proficiency in MS Office and computer systems.

1.                  Provide appropriate supervision for the Accounting staff in order for the department to perform efficiently and effectively.

2.                  Ensures financial reporting is prepared in accordance with Company requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 

3.                  Ensures complete and accurate inventory control, general accounting processes and all other financial activities.  Ensures items are correctly classified.

4.                  Maintains adequate control procedures over all accounting and financial activities.  Provides guidance to ensure that needed internal accounting controls are in place to protect company assets.

5.                  Daily cash management.

6.                  Maintain and secure assets, minimizing outstanding receivables and investments inventories.

7.                  Prepare in conjunction with operations management, all operational budgets and forecasts.

8.                  Act as a liaison between other operating departments to facilitate information flow and the decision making process.

9.                  Educates operations management in financial matters to build management team effectiveness.

10.              Prepare cash flow forecast on a quarterly basis.

11.              Maintain all contracts, leases and other legal and financial records.

12.              Implement and support property operating policies and procedures.

13.              Operate in compliance with all local, state and federal laws and government regulations.

14.              Ensure property is in compliance with Management Operating Agreement.

15.              Assist in development of Risk Management program. Maintain insurance (general liability, property and Worker’s Compensation) programs.

16.              Coordinate all financial audits by outside concerns.

17.              Coordinate all internal financial training and development of department heads and managers.

18.              Performs complex problem solving and communicates financial analysis in a clear and simple manner.

 

 

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

1.                  Meet the qualifications and be able to perform all of the duties described in this job description.

2.                  Attend and conduct meetings as required both within the department and within the organizational structure.

3.                  Ensure effective solution oriented communication within the department and with other operation departments.

4.                  Perform other duties, assignments and special projects that may be required from time to time.
