Controller Job in Santa Rosa, California US

A new company in Santa Rosa, CA (Wine Country), being started by experienced owners is seeking a seasoned Controller, with responsibilities of Office Manger to staff and manage a support department of 4-6 individuals, as well as 2-3 remote Junior Accountant/Clerical staff in Utah. The position will be responsible for the generation of the monthly financial statements, as well as providing daily activity reports of mining, rail and shipping transportation information. Additionally, the position will be responsible for implementing control procedures over the information necessary to properly track and account for the various stages of loading and shipping of the product. This is a unique opportunity to join an organization of experienced business owners as they start a new joint venture which is expected to be the first of many future opportunities.

Responsibilities will include:
Preparation of monthly financial statements utilizing "Foundation Software" Preparation of management reports, including daily product loading and shipping activity
Implementation of new software program
Implementation of control processes and procedures including information flow with remote office
Correspondence, reporting and funds transfers with International Partners
Management of office staff
Administration of Payroll, including payment of Union wages
Preparation of Union wage reports as required
Supervision of Accounts Payable and Billing activities
Maintenance of all general ledger functions
Reconciliation all balance sheet accounts monthly
Interaction with network specialist and international partner to ensure accurate processing of data between two offices

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
10 years of general accounting experience with 5 years of increasing supervisory responsibility
Employment background must include process improvement and change management
Construction and trucking accounting required
Rail and/or excavating experience a plus
Advanced in Microsoft Excel and Word
Experience with ADP, Paychex and other payroll system
Experience with Foundation Software
Experience interacting with management
Must be skilled at multi-tasking
Must work well in a developing and changing environment
Ability to travel to Utah 1-2 times each month with short turn-around time anticipated
