Responsibilities:

·         Serve as a manager and professional resource to Coast Crane Company in the area of accounting, financial reporting and analysis. Ensure that proper policies are being applied in the areas of accounting management.

·         Develop accounting procedures and ensure an adequate level of internal controls are in place.

·         Lead a staff in all daily accounting functions and perform hands-on accounting tasks. Staff includes an Assistant Controller and seven additional staff that process accounts payable, complete multi-state excise tax returns, perform cost accounting and fixed assets accounting, complete bank and account reconciliations and assist on the month end, quarter end, and annual accounting period closes.

·         Coaches, encourages, utilizes, and positively motivates the direct reports and external resources dedicated to the accounting group. Develops training methodologies to transfer institutional knowledge. Keeps staff engaged and trained to meet company needs and objectives.

·         Manage accounting functions for foreign subsidiary in Canada.

·         Manage the relationship with our outside CPA firm and the process of completing the annual audit and the corporate tax returns.

·         Work closely with the CFO in providing various financial reports as required by Coast’s lenders and owners.

·         Assist in preparing budgets. Review monthly operating results and perform variance analysis. Be able to explain monthly results.

·         Stay abreast of current accounting pronouncements and industry best practices by attending professional association meetings as appropriate.

·         Implement business process and accounting procedures in new distribution centers as we expand geographically or through acquisition.

·         Support CFO with daily, weekly and monthly bank reporting and analytical reporting to Board of Directors.

·         Support periodic analytical needs of the business.

·         Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the CFO.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

·         BA/BS degree in Business Administration or Accounting

·         CPA

·         Must have a minimum of 8 years of previous Controller position experience showing a progressive track record. Prefer experience in distribution, trucking or manufacturing industries.

·         Experience in managing foreign subsidiary accounting operations.

·         Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Must be able to present financial information to senior management.

·         Current and valid certified public accountant’s license preferred. Requires thorough understanding of GAAP and its practical application to a dynamic business environment.

·         Strong leadership capabilities with demonstrated ability to coach, motivate and develop accounting staff.

·         Ability to multi-task and work at a fast and efficient pace. Proactively solve problems.
