Controller Job in Toronto/Gta, Ontario Canada

This position is responsible for the creation and execution of the Home Monitoring Finance Plan for Canada including Lifeline and new ventures such as Telehealth Solutions.  The Controller leads the Finance organization by planning, directing and controlling the business planning and financial analysis processes. This includes strategic reviews, budgets, rolling forecasts and monthly/quarterly/annual performance reporting. The Controller also provides decision making support guidance to the HM Management Team on all matters of the business including the introduction of new products and services as well as due diligence and post-merger [financial] integration related to a business acquisition.  The Business Controller acts as sounding board for the GM. Ensures that the business acts appropriately on changes in the external environment, and manages related change processes.

Keeps track of the financial market position and competitiveness of the products of the business.

 

 

     Partner with GM and senior management team in developing long-term business strategies, including marketing and sales strategies and plans, business development initiatives, and organizational development strategies. This includes specifically the analysis and evaluation of various scenarios and options as well as supporting the senior management team in the decision making process.

     Takes responsibility for the management of financial risks of the business.

     Plans, directs and controls the business planning process. Comprising: strategic reviews, budgets, rolling forecasts and monthly performance reporting.

     Leads the financial monitoring of the business and the implementation of corrective actions.

     Plans, evaluates and approves financial decisions (investments, acquisitions, restructuring proposals, etc.) for the business, based on the creation of value (value based management).

     Ensures that appropriate pricing mechanisms are in place tuned to the competitive position of the business and influencing managerial behavior appropriately.

     Ensures that the appropriate information systems are in place for the financial management of the business.

     Manages the finance team of the business, ensuring appropriate development of staff. Matching capabilities to job requirements.

     Ensures that proper business controls are maintained in the business and that the business adheres to the Philips code of conduct. Is responsible for the functioning of the audit committee of the business.

Act on behalf of the GM in his absence.

 

 

     MBA, CMA, CA, CGA, or equivalent combination of education and experience

     Minimum of 5+ years experience leading and managing financial teams and developing, implementing and executing Finance strategies

     Previous experience in managing the financial activities of a medical device and service delivery organization

     Minimum of 10+ years of progressive financial management experience

     Knowledge of financial tools and processes and a deep understanding of relevant accounting principles

     Strong analytical and financial modeling skills

     Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to function at a high level with other senior managers, board members, customers, and other external parties

     Excellent business acumen, including strategic planning, operational analysis and business planning

     Ability to work within a complex, matrix global business environment

     Merger and acquisition experience will be considered an asset

     Experience in the health insurance or telecommunications sector will be an asset

     Minimum 5 years financial experience in the health care field (hospitals, public/private home care, pharmaceutical) would be ideal
