Controller Job in Washington 20005, District Of Columbia US

The Controller is responsible for coordinating and directing the day-to-day accounting activities, including forecast and budget preparation and reporting, financial reporting and analysis, general ledger, accounts payable, payroll and benefits accounting, cash management, risk management (insurance) and tax compliance. In addition, periodic special projects include acquisition due diligence and integration as well as development funding.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

Report to management regarding the finances of establishment.

Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.

Coordinate tax preparation with outside tax accountants, ensuring compliance with payment,

reporting or other tax requirements.

Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.

Coordinate external auditing services for business.

Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.

Provide required board and lender reporting

SKILLS ABILITIES

 

Education : Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university)

 

Experience : Four to ten years related experience

 

Computer Skills

High degree of computer literacy, including proficiency in spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft office.

 

Certificates Licenses

CPA preferred

 

Other Requirements

Minimum five years supervisory/managerial experience. 5 -7 years of Big 4 experience preferred.

Strong communication skills and "business improvement" orientation to accounting and financial

analysis.
