Controller – New York recruitment

The Role

You will supplement the existing accounting team of three in NY and four in London and your responsibilities will include:

Ensuring financial books and records are accurately maintained: Managing day to day activities including client billing and supplier payments for US entity. Will coordinate global quarterly close process and production of qtrly management account, including setting up and approving journals, agreement of accruals and provisions and balance sheet reconciliations. This will involve working closely with the accounting and admin staff based in London as well as the commercial teams within the organisation.

Providing timely, accurate and reliable financial and management information to senior management (e.g. on sales reporting, customer account analysis, commission payments, analysis of significant expenses – budget v/s actual variances etc.)

Year End Audit: Significant interaction with US audit team - assisting with the year-end audit by preparing all necessary schedules and analysis of specific general ledger accounts. Will also be involved with coordination of global audit process,

Adhoc financial projects: establishing new chart of accounts, new processes and controls.


Key Qualifications/ Skills Required

Education: College graduate and CPA qualified (or qualified by experience).

Experience; Minimum 3 years well rounded accounting experience within financial services, ideally within a financial market data provider, asset management or technology company. Alternatively could have been with an accounting firm with clients similar in size and type of business. MUST BE COMFORTABLE WITH MULTI CURRENCY WORK – E.G. FOR INTER COMPANY RECONCILIATIONS AND BANKING INFO.

Systems: Must be fully competent in Microsoft Office with excellent excel ability. Experience with QuickBooks will be a significant advantage. 

Good organizer with ability to prioritise tasks when under pressure.

Effective written and oral communication skills – ability to liaise with all levels and work with a global virtual team. 

Strong commercial acumen.

Ability to work independently and in a team collaborative environment. Require team player who is flexible and adaptable in their approach. Must have strong interpersonal skills.
