Qualifications: "o 3-5 years full-time news writing or copy editing for web and/or broadcast news; strong editorial judgment, demonstrated experience effectively handling breaking news under heavy deadline pressure. o Ease of use with computer applications necessary. Experience with CMS, iNews and Mediasource is a plus o Strong headline writing skills, ability to deliver on HLN ""voice."" o Multimedia experience is a plus, as is familiarity with SEO best practices. o Familiarity with CNN.com; able to liaise with that team. o Four year college degree. Preferably with course work emphasis on communications, TV production, journalism or new media or mass media studies o Editing and computer skills (checking language, accuracy, balance, sensitivity) o Teamwork and leadership (works effectively with others) o Speed (ability to meet tight deadlines with a heavy work load) o Flexibility (can deal with rapid changes in news, adapt to breaking news, handle several tasks at once) o Attitude (eager, energetic, team-oriented, receptive to constructive criticism, creative) o Able to work with out supervision o Must be flexible. Copy Editors may be asked to work early mornings, late evenings or weekend hours " Duties: "Copy Editor provides final edit of copy, informational graphics, and other story elements for factual accuracy, sourcing, balance, libel, tone, errors in grammar/spelling/style for stories and headlines for HLN Digital. The Copy Editor ensures that the story is up-to-date, that it complies with HLN guidance related to that topic and that the story s elements work together as a cohesive whole. The Copy Editor must be able to deliver on the unique HLN ""voice."" The CE will also be required to view video and graphics to check editorial relevance and accuracy as well as conformance with HLN style and standards. Copy Editor will also be required to help write stories, re-blog, aggregate information, crop images,stream video, and fill in for the HLN Digital Site Editor as needed.
