The Copywriter role is responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders, including segment owners, product team, and in-house and freelance creative teams, to develop original concepts and copy for awareness-building and demand creation efforts while adhering to brand standards and continuity of messaging across all market segments to bridge print, web, mobile, social, etc.. Vehicles include traditional direct mail/email marketing, communications and press releases, as well as support for web content and interactive activities such as videos, podcasts, eBooks and other digital media that meet the needs of UpToDate’s clinical and institutional community worldwide.

This position provides critical support to a variety of revenue-driving marketing channels, business segments and Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Solutions partnerships, targeting diverse audiences in the healthcare profession.

Responsibilities:

·         Develop, maintain, and communicate copy standards and guidelines that clearly define current voice, tone, style and audience-appropriate messaging; create new messaging that evokes emotion, tells a story, supports our value messaging, and embraces our customer personas.

·         Work in partnership with cross-functional teams to understand communication objectives and generate workable concepts and ideas for copy development across a variety of marketing channels.

·         Contribute to overall copy and content strategy development. Translate strategy into concept and execution by writing clear, persuasive, original copy that is on target. Brainstorm unique ideas and create concepts that extend into marketing campaigns and synchronize extensions with various marketing channels.

·         Be versatile in a variety of communication styles that support direct marketing, inbound marketing, advertising, email blasts, internal and external communications, public relations, press releases, conventions, and corporate events.

·         Create, develop and manage web content, write optimized web copy with keyword and linking strategies to increase traffic, stickiness, and page rank.

·         Support brand image by maintaining an in-depth understanding of marketing approaches for a variety of audiences. Review and exercise quality control for all copy to ensure adherence to brand standards and other relevant guidelines.

·         Work collaboratively as part of the Marketing Communications team to prioritize workload; possess the ability to move quickly and comfortably between multiple projects while meeting scheduled target dates. Utilize electronic tools to facilitate efficient workflow of copy and creative development projects. Identify potential workflow capacity issues and make ongoing process improvement recommendations within the department.

Requirements:

·         Bachelor degree required, preferably with English/Journalism focus

·         5+ years of progressive marketing copy development experience in a fast-paced environment

·         Exceptional writing skills, including the demonstrated ability to write in a range of voices and styles for varied projects, and concisely communicate complex or demanding subject matter

·         Demonstrated success writing copy that tells a story and ‘converts’ the audience to customers via a call to action.

·         Extensive experience producing high-quality copy for a wide range of marketing styles and campaigns

·         Able to generate compelling worldwide communications to physicians, other medical personnel, senior levels of healthcare organizations and patients

·         Ability to articulate and present concepts logically

·         Experience with popular content management systems (Drupal, Convio, Kintera, etc.) a plus

·         Prior experience in marketing to physicians, medical personnel, and senior levels of healthcare organizations preferred

·         Current with emerging web content standards and knowledge of search engine optimization techniques

·         Excellent planning, organization, prioritization and time management skills

·         Enthusiastic, lifelong learner able to design and maintain a personalized, professional development program

·         Ability to work independently and achieve goals with minimal supervision

·         Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and achieve goals without conflict

·         Working knowledge and basic proficiency in current technology and business applications

·         Experience using project management planning tools, Robohead a plus

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment

·         Ability to work comfortably in Microsoft Office on a PC platform
