The Core Infrastructure Solution Integration (Core-ISI) team operates within the larger GTIS Integration and Midrange Services function (GTIS-IMS). The ISI team's primary responsibility is to design Infrastructure IT solutions that meet the business’ non-functional requirements in a cost-effective manner, where possible, based upon existing offerings and standards. In doing so, the team processes infrastructure requests for new infrastructure from the business aligned Infrastructure Service Leads (ISLs). Specifically, the Core-ISI team supports the Business Infrastructure Solution Integration (Business-ISI) team in reviewing the requirements and ensuring the solution/application design is well integrated in the existing GTIS infrastructure and is both tactically and strategically aligned. The team is also responsible right-sizing and delivering the required infrastructure resources by using the standard GTIS provisioning processes.
Your job, as a Infrastructure Solution Design Specialist will entail you understanding the key business drivers and the associated infrastructure requirements. You will have a good comprehension of business applications and a strong understanding of the infrastructure technology stack. You will be able to identify the best solutions to meet business requirement in a standard and cost effective manner.
Your job involves:
- Infrastructure design, covering primarily server and storage and often including database and middleware solutions with an understanding of infrastructure aspects of BCM/ and disaster recovery.
- Gather requirements from clients and reviewing the solution with them, measuring, right-sizing resources and working out "fit for purpose" solutions using standard GTIS products and services
- Interacting with App teams in understanding the business requirements and translate that into technical requirements.
- Interacting with GTIS Product Management, Architecture and Engineering in seeking for the right technical solution based on the requirements.
- Supporting service deliver and the execution team in implementing the solution.
- Working with service delivery to ensure capacity is available, identifying potential resource bottlenecks and providing system capacity and performance analysis to the dev teams and taskforces.
Requirements
- Technical background in Server HW technologies: Sparc, x86, on physical as well as on virtual servers with OS Solaris, Windows and Linux, storage (DAS, SAN, NAS), and networking technologies.
- Broad understanding of standard MW components, e.g., DB, Java and messaging.
- Experience in capacity and performance management, i.e, system measurement, analysis, and sizing, is certainly an advantage.
- Tech Lead/Project Management
- Customer focus and solid understanding of business application needs
- In-depth functional and technical understanding of the broad IT infrastructure technology stack
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
