Introduction: Montash Associates have been engaged by a specialist group within a leading Investment Bank, to assist in the acquisition of a Core Java / Java J2SE Lead Developer. This individual will join a growing team working on new projects to provide Scenario Analysis services to Quants and Strategists.
The Organisation: An Investment Bank globally recognised as one of the strongest and most stable in the industry. This firm regards technology as a genuine agent of change, and employs some of the most exceptional talent in the world.
The Team: A small, close knit group within the Credit Technology Division. This team is working on a calculation infrastructure, utilising Grid Computing principles.
The Project: There are several key projects that this group is focussed on. The immediate need is to work with the core calculation infrastructure, adding new functionality to provide analysis of an ever increasing range of risk scenarios. Long term goals centre on a brand new multi-asset calculation system that will look to bring together multiple applications in order to improve investment offerings to clients.
The Role: Due to the ever-rising profile of this team and the importance of the work that they are doing, a strong core Java developer is required to allow growth of the system. This Core Java developer will be heavily involved in the above mentioned projects.
The Technology: The main technology in use is Core Java, J2SE on UNIX/Linux. For certain projects, other technologies are also employed, e.g. Spring dependency injection, Google Guice, Java NIO for performance tuning, C# GUI, etc.
The Skills: The most important skill is exceptional Core Java coding/development ability. It is important that applicants have had extensive experience of writing multithreaded/concurrent code. Exposure to any of the above technologies would be advantageous. This candidate will be a technical lead and as such must be an authority on Core Java; they will be the “go to” for any technical questions.
The Package: This organisation is looking for exceptional talent. Based on this, the package on offer is very strong: a base of up to £90,000, plus excellent discretionary bonus plus benefits equate to an offering that will attract the best.
