Purpose of Role:
- Ensure the integrity of financial reporting and controls
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of disbursement activities
- Responsibility for business partnering of US activities
- Oversight of certain US legal entities
- Ensure timely completion of US finance mandates including regulatory, tax and accounting filings
Specific Responsibilities:
- Review and maintain books and records for US corporate entities, including preparation and submission of information required for the month-end close process.
- Oversee and review team members of the Group Corporate Finance function by appropriate involvement, communication and escalation of material issues.
- Ensure and review accurate completion of statutory US legal entity accounting.
- Responsible for the design, implementation, performance and monitoring of key financial controls within your area.
- Support internal and external auditors in completing audit reviews, including regulatory auditors.
- Oversee completion of the broker-dealer FINRA and RIC SEC schedules in a timely manner.
- Support tax compliance and reporting. Liaison with Group tax to ensure effective implementation of Group tax arrangements
- Ensure the development of the finance function by supporting the implementation of the finance strategy and key objectives.
- Coach and mentor new finance team members.
- Support US Controller in the execution of finance initiatives by actively providing ideas and technical accounting support.
- Build role as point of contact for local cost centre managers to understand finance functions, including workflow process, account ownership, travel and expense policies, expense analysis, reporting needs, etc.
- Work with London business finance partnering as point of contact for local cost centre managers.
- Work with internal Legal and Compliance functions fund operations (either internal or external) comply with any changes in regulation.
- Consult and assist internal management with communications to external parties with reference to all US advisers as required. External parties will include SEC, CFTC, IRS, and auditors.
Technical Competencies:
- Accountant with at least 6 years audit/accounting experience and a CPA, including at least 2 years as a manager for corporate finance staff
- Working knowledge of GL systems
- Knowledge of IFRS an advantage
- Financial services / investment industry experience
- Tax knowledge / experience
- Ability to make decisions and enforce policies preserving the integrity of internal controls
