Experienced candidate required to join our Corporate Actions Department who manage all of UBS AG’s global positions through the lifecycle of corporate events, including; Rights Issues, Mergers and Take-Overs, requiring daily interaction with multiple trading desks and SBL counterparties. The department is currently going through an exciting period of change and growth with major technology implementation and the development of new products and markets.
The role sits within Asset Servicing, reporting to the supervisor of the elective processing team. The primary role of the Corporate Actions Analyst is to specialise in the front to back processing of elective Corporate Actions, collecting instruction on event options from all position holders and lenders and instructing counterparties and agents. These entitled positions include those held by Proprietary traders, Prime Brokerage/Swap clients and stock lending positions within the equity business.
Key aspects of the role:
- Maintain a good working relationship with all areas within Equities and HFS including propriety traders and stock lending traders with the flow of information on events.
- Communicate and escalate issues / progress clearly, concisely and on a timely basis and manage expectations accordingly. Ensure all queries/resolution of issues generated by Internal or External Clients are resolved in a timely manner.
- To become cross-trained in all aspects of the corporate actions to ensure coverage of all functions when required.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures for activities within the group.
- Introduce a procedure which identifies control gaps and ensure all experiences of errors, losses, and near misses are shared.
- Manage and control business risks, budgets and costs for own area of responsibility, using resources cost-effectively.
- Co-ordinate the department process improvement projects – create an environment that generates ideas.
- Identify further opportunities to reduce costs.
Requirements:
- Previous exposure from a Corporate Actions area with an Investment bank and market knowledge of all regions (UK, Europe, Americas and Asia Pacific) is essential.
- Must have a detailed understanding of ‘front to back’ trade processing within the securities industry (primarily Equities) including external Exchanges and clearance systems (e.g. Clearstream, Euroclear, etc).
- Previous exposure to risk management from a trading perspective and Operations work - with a proven track record in solving day-to-day process problems.
- Ability to understand trade flows for the Equity business and Corporate Action booking flows.
- Good ‘front to back’ knowledge of equity flows and systems - Colt, Global 1, and SSE is required.
