Over the past years, UBS Investment Banking Division has increasingly regionalised the Operations business to capture the advantage of the location of clients and custodians.
UBS operations interfaces with all aspects of the Investment Bank in order to facilitate business generated by Prime Services, Equity and Swap products operating within the APAC region. Its main function is to ensure the business is completed successfully so that revenues are realised without adverse impact to the balance sheet. Asset Servicing Operations endeavours to meet this challenge whilst striving to deliver a market leading service quality to clients (internal and external) through the deployment of a scalable and functional technology infrastructure and a dynamic highly skilled, client-focused team.
• The successful candidate will be a member of the Corporate Action team within the Asset Servicing Group covering corporate action for Prime Brokerage clients, Synthetic Equity Swap and ELN client base. The candidate is expected to actively contribute to the future expansion of the team and to the development of an enhanced ‘specialised processing” and ‘client service’ culture within the area.
• Corporate Action team is primarily responsible for the processing of all APAC market corporate actions. The successful individual will be responsible for the daily processing of corporate actions team from event notification to depot and nostro reconciliation in order to deliver an exemplary Operational service to Global client base.
• The successful candidate will also be expected to be proactive and confident in dealing with both internal and external clients equally and to participate in any projects and systems enhancements that take place throughout the year.
• The key daily responsibilities for this role are as follows:
• Building Maintaining Relationships with the account management team and internal / external clients
• Data capture – Providing hedge fund clients and front office with timely and accurate event notifications
• Processing – Event reconciliation, soliciting client elections for submission to our agent network within specified time frames
• Processing – Reflecting timely and correct entitlements on the clients portfolio
• Controls – Depot and nostro reconciliation
• Identify and propose process improvement opportunities
Requirements:
• 3+ years asset servicing experience weighted largely towards corporate action event processing. Knowledge of Prime Brokerage related Equity products.
• In-depth knowledge of all Prime Brokerage related Equity and derivative products together with essential knowledge of Equity financing in relation to the processing corporate actions and dividend with short positions, stock borrow and lending and broker protections.
• Candidates should be used to dealing with risk situations and liaising with all aspects of the business, clients and operations management to achieve the desired result for the client and UBS.
• Ability to ‘think on their feet’ the candidate should be able to use depth of experience to proactively seek out new knowledge and information for themselves
• In-depth knowledge of event creation process, i.e. Agent and Vendor management, previous understanding of an event capture area an advantage.
• Individual will be responsible for correctness of corporate action elections and should have a clear understanding of associated financial risk of late or incorrect instructions, attention to detail is essential.
• Controls focus – Ability to monitor and take ownership of outstanding claims, payable and receivable items together with respective depot and nostro reconciliation for their own responsibility area, as well as independently take responsibility for unidentified breaks without any apparent ownership
• Knowledge of SWIFT, Euclid, DTCC, Excel, Power point, Access and other MS related packages, an advantage, as well as any in-depth knowledge of other corporate actions processing systems.
