Corporate Actions Specialist recruitment
The Newedge Corporate Actions and Dividends department is responsible for servicing various types of business for Newedge, Newedge’s Prime Brokerage Custody Operations, and the Newedge Equity Clearing Fixed Income/Repo/Corporate business lines.
Day to Day Responsibilities Include:
- Coordinate, monitor and execute all corporate action events and dividends from announcement through payable for the equity business lines including the stock loan business line for equity and debt. Communicate and manage event details and deadlines with clients / departments both external and internal.
- Responsible for managing all claims processing for Newedge’s stock loan business lines of equity and debt for all corporate action and dividend events.
- Monitor and execute all corporate events and interest processing from announcement through payable for the Newedge debt business line
- Assist in processing all Proxy Voting services for customers within the Broadridge proxy system as required by customers.
- Procedural Control Compliance- create new procedures, review and update existing procedures
- Increase levels of automation to eliminate manual input
- Participate in ad-hoc department projects
Qualifications Include:
- 5+ years experience in a Corporate Actions role with the ability to work under pressure
- Detailed understanding and ability to process Mandatory and Voluntary Corporate Actions events and Regular and Optional dividend / Bond and PIK interest events across all markets.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Corporate and US debt reorganizations including convertible bonds, bankruptcy processing, rights processing.
- Detailed Knowledge of Equities / Debt Clearing systems SUNGARD / SHADOW / BLOOMBERG / DTCC CNS-SIAC / GENEVA PORTFOLIO and BROADRIDGE
- Ability to effectively priorities daily workload
- Ability to handle conflict and act at all times in a professional manner in a high pressured business environment dealing with sometimes difficult situations involving traders and external brokers or banks
- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Individual who takes pride in their work and who is able to express themselves in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to interact with Traders/Counterparties and other operational groups
- Individual who has the ability to think out of the box and contribute to continual business process improvement
- Ability to understand operational risk
- Takes ownership and demonstrates a “Can-Do” attitude in his/her daily role
- Individual who has the ability to hit the ground running, work on his/her own initiative and understand complex transactions and new products within a short timeframe
