The Corporate Communications Manager will help to drive internal communications initiatives by working closely with regional broking areas, business units and corporate functions to share news about business successes and product/services developments, inform colleagues of important updates and increase employee engagement. The Communications Manager also will support certain components of media relations initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Execute communications plans for internal initiatives, e.g., the launch/implementation of new products and services.
- Create and distribute internal corporate and line-of-business communications.
- Manage content on company intranet and public website. Develop editorial calendar, write articles and assist in producing audio/video segments.
- Help produce monthly employee newsletters by assisting in the development of editorial calendars and drafting of articles as appropriate.
- Assist in development and scheduling of executive Town Hall meetings and business unit “lunch-and-learn” sessions for colleagues worldwide.
- Manage industry award submissions program.
- Execute media plans, e.g., coordinate writing and distribution of press releases.
- Support Senior Vice President on corporate advertising and branding initiatives as necessary.
- Execute internal communications strategies and initiatives, including the dissemination of information about new products, services, business wins, awards, events and other relevant issues.
- Identify article ideas and write/post weekly/monthly feature articles for company intranet and monthly newsletter.
- Assist with creating and distributing time-sensitive, strategic communications to employees worldwide via email and intranet.
- Assist corporate departments (e.g., IT and Human Resources) in developing and distributing employee communications (emails, articles and fact sheets) about new projects and initiatives.
- Manage calendar of industry awards deadlines, research opportunities and write submissions/nominations on behalf of the firm.
- Work with PR agency to monitor industry publications' editorial calendars and identify opportunities for media interviews and bylined article placements.
- Work with Marketing Intelligence to produce approved bylined articles for trade publications.
- Work with SVP and other Marketing colleagues to write, produce and distribute video and audio segments about the firm's strategy, products, services and brand.
- Regularly update and post content on intranet/public website to reflect developments in business areas and changes in management. Anticipate what materials will be affected and revise accordingly.
- Work with Marsh McLennan Companies to enhance cross-company communication by posting relevant articles on GC Portal and submitting Guy Carpenter's news to other op-cos.
- Manage day-to-day relationships/billing with vendors.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- 4-year college degree.
- 5-7 years experience in a corporate communications (or similar) role.
- Exceptional communications skills (writing, editing, proofreading and verbal).
- Superior project management skills (organizational skills and the ability to manage numerous projects/programs simultaneously).
- Ability to advise/consult with senior management regarding communications strategies.
- Must possess initiative, sound business judgment and the ability to work autonomously.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Working knowledge of internet/intranet content management.
- Experience working within a multinational financial services organization.
- Insurance/reinsurance experience preferred.
