Corporate Communications Professional, Media Relations – Vice President recruitment
The Position:
Corporate Communications Vice President to cover Media Relations for Morgan Stanley's Equity Fixed Income Sales Trading businesses, including Research, in the EMEA region. The position will report to the Head of EMEA Corporate Affairs, and will work closely with other members of the corporate communications team.
Responsibilities:
• Working closely with Business Unit management and other Corporate Communications professionals, develop strategic EMEA PR programmes for Sales Trading businesses, including Equity, Equity Derivatives, Structured Products, Rates, Credit, FX and Commodities. This will include:
- Developing a rolling quarterly strategy for raising BU profiles across EMEA and securing buy-in from BU senior management;
- Working with BU senior management in London and colleagues globally to manage public perceptions of business critical issues within the BUs;
- In conjunction with network of European PR Agencies, managing and developing the media profile of BU teams and products across EMEA;
- Ensuring BU input into relevant features and industry profiles;
- Refining media positioning and core messages for the businesses;
- Conceptualising, developing and writing press releases and other collateral materials, as appropriate;
- Developing, implementing and enforcing media policy and procedures within the division.
• Develop strong relationships with key financial and business journalists.
• Serve as primary media contact for the BUs; handle all press enquiries relevant to the businesses.
• Oversee dissemination of Firm’s research output, including Equity, Equity Strategy, Economics, Credit, Rates and FX, to the media. This will include:
- Managing a media relations associate responsible for research;
- Working with media relations associate to develop and execute media relations strategies for research;
- Managing relationships with Research management and compliance control group.
Skills Required
Qualifications:
• Previous media relations experience required.
• The ideal candidate may have around 7+ years experience in a similar role.
• In depth understanding of the financial services industry, preferably with experience in investment banking.
• Sound understanding of, or ability to understand, the financial markets.
• Proven ability to work with senior management to shape and drive corporate and business unit agendas with the media.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists in print, broadcast and online across Europe.
• Proven ability to work closely with, and develop skills of, spokespeople and prepare them for media activities.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and also the pressure of adversarial media situations in a consistently professional manner.
• EMEA media relations experience preferred; key markets include: UK, France, Germany, Italy, MENA, Switzerland and Spain.
• European languages, particularly French, Italian or Spanish, very helpful.
• Exceptionally strong writing skills.
