Corporate Debt Recovery Service Manager. As the Corporate Debt Recovery Service Manager you will be working for a London Borough. This is an Interim role initially for 3 months which may be extended pending perm recruitment.

The Role

The Council is looking for a leader of people, who can help to shape and deliver this new service.

As the service manager responsible for corporate debt recovery you will be developing and executing the overall debt recovery plan through your management team and officers. You will also be leading on the development of the commercialisation of the service to win new business and achieve revenue targets.

Reporting to the Head of Income and Benefits, you’ll lead a newly created team of 4 Managers and approximately 35 Officers. You will manage the day to day recovery centre and build a culture that is focussed on cash collection and celebrating successfully meeting targets as a continuous improvement ethos through testing of new strategies that challenge the norm. You will manage the outsourced collections program and servicing companies (agencies, law firms, service providers) to ensure they effectively maximise recovery and collections of the debt portfolio.

Knowledge/ Skills

• Knowledge of debt collection best practice and approach to debt types.
• Knowledge of OFT principles and guidelines
• Knowledge of relevant primary and secondary legislation and good practice relating to housing and council tax benefits, sundry, council tax and non-domestic rates
• Knowledge and up-to-date understanding of legislative and policy frameworks as they apply to the service
