Description: Unicorr Packaging Group is a multi-plant, family-owned and operated business producing corrugated packing, displays, and foam and wood protective packaging. Practicing lean thinking to promote efficiency, sustainability and the elimination of waste along with a customer-partnership philosophy, has lead to Unicorr’s success and growth.  Since 1946, Unicorr has distinguished itself by its integrity and its manufacturing, design and service excellence, being among the largest converters of corrugated products and protective packaging in the Northeast. Currently, we have a Manager of Process Improvement and Quality opening based out of corporate headquarters in North Haven, CT with a direct report located out of our Marlborough, MA plant.

Job Purpose:

Optimizes operational results by studying current operations; identifying process improvement opportunities; developing analytical models; supporting process improvement programs, and quality assurance (ISO 9001) by applying lean thinking methodology. As the Corporate Manager of Process Improvement and Quality, your primary role will be to support management in improving processes and quality throughout our operations, with a focus in North Haven, CT; Walden, NY; and Putnam, CT; with a direct report covering MA and VT.
 

Duties:
* Assesses adequacy of current operations by identifying and analyzing business requirements and operations; conducting performance studies; interviewing and conferring with operations personnel.

* Determines performance measures by identifying key business metrics; conducting benchmarking initiatives; developing and calibrating analytical, estimating, forecasting, financial, and operational models.

* Identifies opportunities for operational improvements by preparing cost/benefit analyses; developing business cases; recommending process improvement priorities.

* Conducts analysis, supports benefits estimation and documentation.

* Supports process improvement programs by providing continuing measurements, analyses, and recommendations; developing new business models; identifying low-cost designs, materials, processes, and sources; evaluating new technologies and equipment.

*Works with management and teams to strategize how to best use process improvement methods within the context of their ongoing operations strategies.

* Maintains operations guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.

* Prepares operations performance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.

* Maintains organization's advantage by keeping information confidential.

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

* Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

* Manages quality program by supporting and developing process controls, training, corrective actions and maintaining and developing ISO procedures throughout all facilities.
 

Skills/Qualifications:
3-5 years of full-time relevant experience at a manufacturing company using Lean Manufacturing, Six sigma and ISO experience preferred, attention to detail, thoroughness, excellent communications skills, enjoys working in a team-based environment. Committed to meeting/exceeding management objectives. Proficiency in Internet technology and Excel/Access skills. Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Engineering with a manufacturing concentration.
