POSITION MISSION / SUMMARY:
Corporate warehouse expert focused on managing/minimizing overall enterprise-wide warehouse square footage and expenses. Manage strategic alignment with all GPI business units to right size all warehouse operations to meet current and future storage requirements. Create three to five year forward looking strategy to align warehouse needs with a changing real estate market and challenge current service providers to meet or exceed market benchmark cost concessions. Drive complete and total utilization of internal GPI warehouse capabilities before seeking external alternatives. Works directly with others to identify and demonstrate ways to improve individual performance as a mentor and a leader.

 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:

- Responsible for all warehouse operations.
- Seek avenues to optimize GPI entire warehouse network and storage footprint from a holistic perspective. Options to include internal racking systems, floor layout design, automation alternatives and localized storage opportunities.
- Re-evaluating domestic warehousing for all post mergers to realize synergies and develop cost reduction opportunities. This excessive cost must be reduced significantly to ensure that the combined, new Graphic Packaging International meets its synergy-related goals.
- Overall strategic leadership for working with all business units to develop a forward looking long term strategy for warehouse services.
- Insure smooth warehouse operational transitions as new service providers are introduced to the network. Create contractual language that protects enterprise liability when cancelling any outside warehouse operations.
- Work with GPI BU’s and legal team to reduce overall GPI liability through getting warehousing vendors under contract in a timely manner, mitigating risk through contractual language, obtaining optimal payment terms, and providing GPI the most favorable contractual terms possible within the market.
- Designate resources to manage day-to-day warehousing operations from a tactical standpoint to continue to drive cost reductions throughout the system.
- Create warehouse internal versus external benchmark analysis to compare cost and market services. - Maintain data in living document for BU reporting and utilize for critical decision making.
- Develop cross-functional team with BU’s to create inventory management processes to reduce warehouse waste. To include reduction in obsolete materials, partial pallets, etc.
- Provide warehouse pricing to the various business units and sales force to ensure that such costs are captured in the marketing and execution of new business.
- Continuous strategic analysis development of warehousing to ensure that all divisional requirements are met and aligned support is available.
- Collaborate with GPI IT to automate BU reporting within SAP and/or Qlikview to speed access to critical warehouse metrics to drive data base inventory and warehouse decisions.
- Embrace SC Finance to forecast warehousing cost and to develop annual financial forecast for both warehousing cost and/or capital requirements.
- Responsible for developing all warehouse Strategic Procurement Initiative (SPI) cost reduction projects, development of project charters, monthly reporting of savings, and savings outlook on forward months using SPI Center internal systems.
- Management responsibility for the warehouse system as it relates to daily issues to ensure operational throughput efficiencies are met, customer requirements are met, and adherence to corporate policies is maintained.
- Inclusion of GPI Continuous Improvement Team(s) to streamline warehouse processes, eliminate demand on warehouse space and improve warehouse efficiencies.
- Periodically review equipment and technology of current warehouse suppliers.
- 50% plus domestic travel expected.
 

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 10 + years of supply chain operations, warehouse network optimization, or transportation experience in a logistics organization
- 10+  years supply chain, or logistics experience in an management role
- Effective leadership in regional DC development and implementation
- Supervision and management of non-exempt associates.
- Transportation Operations and Supply Chain Management.
- Organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- 4 year college degree required 
- Strong systems aptitude and proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with emphasis on Outlook, Word and Excel. Proficiency in Microsoft Access. Logistics Management System background with specific focus on warehousing and ocean freight.
- Advanced computer skills including a moderate understanding of ERP and TMS applications (e.g., SAP, JDE, etc.), systems, and hands-on analytical experience with Excel, Access and other analytical software tools.
