Corporate Tax Accountant

Hays Taxation is recruiting a Corporate Tax Senior, for a Top 10 firm, based in Norwich or Ipswich.

The role involves the provision of tax compliance services to a wide range of corporate clients, with some exposure to personal tax work. Reporting to the Tax Manager, and liaising directly with the firm clients, your primary responsibility will be to take control of the corporation tax compliance requirements of a portfolio of clients, from the planning and preparation of corporation tax returns and computations to their submission to HM Revenue Customs and dealing with any subsequent enquiries. You will also support the preparation of corporation tax returns by non-tax specialists, and will be involved with tax advisory work on an ad hoc basis.

You will be self-motivated, able to work to tight deadlines, have excellent interpersonal skills together with an ability and interest in understanding clients businesses.

· Responsible for all day-to-day tax compliance affairs of client portfolio and involved with related advisory matters whilst being supervised by Tax Manager and communicating effectively with the rest of the client service team
· To draft letters and reports for review by Manager / Partner
· To review work produced by non-tax specialists
· Identify risk and technical matters, as well as selling opportunities.
· Understand and adhere to cost budgets, meet reporting timetables, prepare key client reporting documents
· Ensure value of work in progress is monitored and liaise with client relationship team on client billing
· Ensure professional standards and internal protocols are adhered to at all times
· Develop professional relationships with clients and within the firm
· Provide an efficient and proactive service to clients and ensure that the clients needs are fully met
· Pay attention to self-development and continuing professional education with a view to progressing within the practice
· Support and work as a team player in achieving the objectives for the tax stream, the regional strategic business unit and the firm as a whole
· Ideally to work on own initiative
· Consult with colleagues and Partners on technical and risk matters

Requirements
· Competent on routine corporation tax compliance work without generating significant manager review points
· Significant understanding of and previous experience within tax compliance
· Tax advisory experience preferable but not essential
· Good knowledge of Excel and Word and, ideally, Alphatax
· Able to demonstrate a commitment and desire to developing a career within the tax profession
· Must be prepared to travel between other offices in the region.
· CTA and / or ACA qualified or equivalent (would consider ATT qualified with relevant experience)
