Balfour Beatty WorkSmart includes the Balfour Beatty Customer Service Centre (CSC) inNewcastlewhich is pooling knowledge and expertise across the Group in the payroll, accounting services and supply chain management areas, whilst increasing standardisation, realising efficiency savings and generating substantial revenues through delivering shared services.

A new corporation tax compliance team is in the process of being established at the CSC. Balfour Beatty are now recruiting the founding members of the team including a Corporation Tax Manager and two Assistant Corporation Tax Managers all to be based in Newcastle.

The Roles

Corporation Tax Manager - This role will project manage the process of bringing the tax compliance in-house over a three year phased basis, as well as reviewing the UK corporation tax computations and IFRS and UK GAAP tax notes for inclusion in the Group and individual company statutory accounts. The manager would be a bridge between the finance departments, group tax team and the CSC and would assist in the mitigation of tax risk and minimise tax leakage across theUK group as well as preparing and reviewing ad hoc advisory and compliance matters.

Assistant Tax Managers - These roles take ownership of preparing and submitting corporation tax computations for UK group entities, preparing IFRS and UK GAAP tax notes for inclusion in the Group and individual company statutory accounts, assisting in the process of bringing the tax compliance in-house and assisting in the preparation and review of ad hoc advisory and compliance matters.

The Person

Successful candidates are likely to be qualified CTA and/or ACA either at the newly or one to two years qualified level for the Assistant Manager level roles and up to five years' post-qualification experience for the Manager position. Candidates should have previous experience in working with statutory accounts, tax computations and tax returns experience including tax compliance and risk management as well as tax accounting and reporting processes best practise. Project management and people management experience is desirable but not essential.
