Corrosion Engineer

Exova Corrosion Centre (ECC) forms part of the Energy group and has an excellent international reputation in the Oil Gas sector for sour-service materials testing.

 

With representation at the highest levels within professional institutions and involvement in technical committees covering international testing standards, ECC is a laboratory of choice for many first-tier operators and contractors.

 

As part of the strategic development of ECC, we are looking to recruit:

 

PROJECT/CORROSION ENGINEER

Corrosion Centre, Dudley


39 hours per week

Additional hours as required

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

 

·        Planning, organization and delivery of corrosion test programmes in accordance with international standards/ specifications and internal procedures

·         Preparation of internal documentation/test procedures to meet specialized testing requirements as defined by the client

·         Provision of technical support for clients in initial ‘kick-off’ meetings

·         To manage client expectations and delivery of project results

·         Undertaking and assisting with the training of other team members

·         Compilation of final reports for technical review and submission to clients

 

The successful candidate will be expected to possess a comprehensive knowledge of ferrous metallurgy encompassing: structure/property relationships, failure mechanisms and interaction of metallic materials with the environment.  This experience will not only be demonstrated through academic achievement and professional status, but also in terms of practical metallography skills.

 

Knowledge of corrosion testing, electrochemistry and corrosion mechanisms would be an advantage and an understanding of welding processes would also be beneficial, although appropriate training would be provided to the successful candidate.

 

Excellent oral communication and report-writing abilities are required together with the motivation and commitment to strong technical delivery in a commercial environment.
