Cost Accountant Job in Cork

A temporary vacancy for a Cost Accountant now exists with one of our clients at their pharmaceutical plant in Cork.

Working within the Finance Team and reporting to Controller-Reporting Accounting, the role will mainly focus on product costing, monitoring COGs, and Inventory and ensuring their accuracy using SAP and Excel.

Essential Duties Responsibilities:

Standard Costing

- Maintain and manage the standard costing activities for all products as related to the facility, including working with Logistics and Manufacturing in setting up SAP master data and resolving issues

- Variance analysis - report on key production cost figures and variances from standards/budgets, analysis of production and purchase price variances

- Preparation of Budget standard costs - manage the calculation of standard costs for the following year.

Operations/Financial Reporting

- Complete cost of sales + inventory reporting (including variance analysis) on monthly, quarterly and annual basis in line with internal deadlines

- Verification and accurate classification of financial accounting entries in respect of all cost of sales and inventory transactions

- Ensure accurate recording of inter-company transactions

- Monitoring, controlling and reporting of accounting transactions for revenue

- Monthly analysis of capital expenditure

- Assist with preparation and analysis of budgets and forecasts.

Others

- Co-ordinate cut-off procedure to achieve accurate month end reporting

- Set up inter-company third party purchase prices on SAP

- Organise quarterly Cycle Counts and adjust stock on SAP, if necessary.

Skills and Abilities required:

- Qualified (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) Accountant from a Manufacturing background

- 1-2 years Cost Accounting experience

- Working knowledge of a computerised accounting package - ideally SAP

- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft word and excel

- Strong work ethic and communication skills, positive attitude, self-motivated.

- Must be a team-player, with flexibility, high attention to detail and ability to interact with different levels of management.

- Ability to handle multiple tasks and good problem solving skills.

- Able to work to tight financial deadlines
