COST Accountant

The Cost Accountant will be responsible for accurately completing various task related to job costing, expense tracking, revenue recognition, system support, financial reporting and other accounting processes. The objective is to ensure complete and accurate job costing, ensure full recovery of available revenue and to produce accurate financial statements with the ability to answer questions related to those financial statements. RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will include several responsibilities, including, but not limited to the following: Accounting Functions: This individual will be responsible for tracking all project related invoicing to ensure the timeliness and compliance with respective customer contracts/agreements. Working with accounts payable and the project team to ensure all project costs (including travel and related costs) have been properly reflected and invoiced to the customer. Preparing month-end accounting entries related to project activity (deferred revenue and expenses, cut-off issues, accruals, etc?). Understanding project estimates and comparing those estimates to actual activity to ensure the project is progressing as planned from revenue and expense measurements. Analyst Functions: This individual will be responsible for tracking and analyzing project profitability at various levels (individual project, general project type, client level, office level, etc?). A key expectation of this role will be identifying economic savings to the Company through the identification of cost overruns that are passed to the customer, expense control during project production, efficiency or utilization savings. This individual will be expected to be able to develop appropriate relationships with the project management and implementation teams in order to help them better manager and implement their tasks. Effectively report the findings from your analysis so that those findings can be used to improve future projects, or make corrections to existing projects. System Functions: Maintain relevant financial information in the system. Work in conjunction with Technology and the operational users to identify system enhancements and resolve various bugs. Skills/Requirements: * Bachelors in Accounting required * 6-8 years Accounting / Finance experience * At least 2 years of Cost Accounting * Strong aptitude for financial systems (Oracle preferred) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office * Detail-oriented with strong analytical and interpersonal skills * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Can be trusted to keep sensitive information secure * Must be able to work in front of a computer for long periods of time. * Must be able to work overtime as needed based upon ongoing projects. * Work is normally performed in a typical office environment.
