Opportunity
An opportunity exists for the appointment of a Cost Accountant within the MG Central Finance Records Team, reporting to the Cost Accountant.
The Cost Team will be responsible for all costs within the Group apart from workforce costs which are managed and controlled by a separate team. In addition to the accounting and control of actual cost data and payments, the team is responsible for producing plans, forecasts and associated statutory and management information for costs across all MG business units and entities.
The team will interact with all Finance teams and the Business - in conjunction with the BU finance teams.
Area of Direct responsibility - Retail Equities
Support the Senior Cost Analyst in control of all cost centres and allocation of costs across areas responsible incorporating:
* Review of all expenses in SUN general ledger on a monthly basis.
* Submission of accruals, prepayment and adjustments.
* Provide detailed and summary variance analysis to BU Teams.
* Cost centre management reports - compile and add commentary before either sending to BU Team or direct to cost centre managers.
* Monthly update meeting with department managers on "vanilla" cost centres. Strategic cost centres (to be determined) meetings will be led by BU Teams.
* Regular meetings with BU Team to ensure appropriate communication between BU and Central Teams.
* Preparation of-budgets and forecasts for all cost centres
* Keep abreast of business and project developments; provide input and analysis with the wider finance team.

The role is ideally suited to someone who can demonstrate the following:
* Part-Qualified accountant currently studying for recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA,CIMA).
* Strong Excel Skills.
* Experience of Hyperion and SUN an advantage
