Cost Analyst

This individual is primarily responsible for month end analysis of all inventories related transactions and the details of inventory balances and reserves. In addition, this individual will heavily participate in the preparation of the annual Business Plan, year-end Reporting and projects as assigned by the Cost and Budget Manager.

The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive.

1. Reviews monthly AIL and PPV reports, investigates issues and record transactions into the G/L.
2. Assists in preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and related management reports and the annual Business Plan, including profitability of product lines.
3. Completes monthly closing activity related to inventory, inventory reserve and quality assurance spending and related management reports.
4. Reconciles activity between related division's inventory systems.
5. Participates in monthly WIP physical inventory and in semiannual physical inventories.
6. Reconciles and records all intercompany inventory transactions for financial statements elimination and proper accounting treatment.
7. Handles all intercompany transfer price and standard cost issues as well as special intercompany packaging analysis and price adjustments.
8. Develop and monitor the necessary MIS systems to support the s cost, inventory and financial needs.
9. Participates in special projects assigned by the Cost Accounting Manager.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
1. Understanding of financial reporting and the required statements and supporting ledgers.
2. Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and cost accounting, particularly in a manufacturing environment..
3. Working knowledge of inventory control procedures.
4. Proficient in the use of PCs and computers and spreadsheet software, particularly Lotus 1-2-3.
5. Strong analytical skills.

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related area, 2 years experience with 1 year of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment. MBA and/or CPA/CMA preferred. This position also requires demonstrated knowledge of personal computers, spreadsheet and word processing software.
